  2. Hi Lisa,

In a lot of ways Indian Territory researchers are fortunate because we have a wealth of documentation available to us.

I am discovering more ways to present this unique history through the documents and portraits of people; which I feel helps to tell a complete story.

Like other researchers these "artifacts" help us present our family's history with a legacy of imagery that allows us to view our ancestors as real people and not just names on paper, especially when we did not have the good fortune to know them personally.

This particular document was given to every recipient of land as a result of the Dawes enrollment process; I felt it helped put my ancestor back on the historical landscape in which she lived (of course I had to exercise my creative license and manipulate the document which actually is a replica of an original.)

Perhaps other people will become interested in the digital artwork I produce for themselves?
