Freedmen Conference DVD Trailer

In February a conference of Choctaw and Chickasaw Freedmen descendants was held at the Tulsa Campus of Langston University. Over the weekend the participants were introduced to several speakers that brought new insights on the history and preservation of the former slaves of Indian Territory.

One of the more unique activities included the sharing by the participants of their own family oral history. One of the highlights of this sharing was the history of Simon LOVE by his grand daughter, 94 year old Carrie SETTLES. She was a delight and entertained everyone when she spoke about her grandfather and how he contributed to the welfare of "the Chickasaw people."
